No matter how you got together with someone or are thinking of some form of a relationship, are you one to be curious?

From dating to business partnerships and more, a relationship means taking on risk.

That said it is worth your time and effort to do some investigating of people. These are folks that you are hoping will be around in your life for some time to come.

While you may want to give people the benefit of the doubt, knowing some of their background is important.

With that in mind, are there reasons to suspect someone now coming into your life or already there?

Doing Some Research is Worth Your Time

When you think someone may not be entirely truthful with you, it makes sense to follow up on this.

That said here are three reasons to suspect someone is not telling the truth:

1. Doesn’t want to answer a lot of questions – Sure, some individuals are shy. That said you still may need some more definitive information from them. This is when starting some form of a relationship that could last for a long period of time. Someone you may come in contact with can shy away from answering questions you’d like answers to. As a result, you could be left with more questions of them moving forward. So, one option you can put in play would be doing a free background check. By going online and following through, you can more times than not get some details about one. In doing so, you may feel better about the situation. In the event you come up with some details that are alarming, at least you have such info now at your fingertips. Having it is better than being left out in the dark.

2. Doesn’t seem to volunteer info – In most cases where you are one-on-one, there will be talk back-and-forth. So, what do you do when you seem to be doing most or all the talking? Someone not willing to voluntarily share info with you could be a red flag. This is especially the case if your life can be affected by them. By not getting the details you want, will you still pursue some sort of relationship with them?

3. Doesn’t have a positive past – Another red flag you may see is when you discover someone does not have a positive past. This can be everything from a criminal record to serious financial issues. Remember, their problems could transfer over to your life in the event you are not careful. As such, you need to proceed with caution. It can be problematic for you if you have to buckle down financially due to someone’s negative impact on your life. At the end of the day, you could get taken for a ride all because someone was not truthful to you.

When you suspect someone is not presenting you with the truth, how will you handle it?

Your best bet is to get some background info on them and go from there.
